“If you think down, you will go down.
If you think up, you will go up.
You’ll always travel in the direction of your thinking.”T.D. Jakes
For the first week of April, we have focused on mental health. As stated by MentalHealth.gov, “Mental health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood.”
At Yonsei, we want our students to succeed not just on the mat but in life as well. We know that mental health plays a key factor in that success. We begin every lesson with a brief meditation so that students can let go of whatever is weighing them down before they begin.
We pride ourselves in treating every student like family, and when hard times arise, such as the 2021 Hurricane Ida, we band together to support one another. Family is important to us, and at Yonsei, everyone is family. Everyone – and every mind – is important.
